| The trans-migration of tribes throughout Southeast Asia has created many fascinating cultures, the greatest beneficiary being the refuge of northern Laos. Fascinating hill tribes including Laos' original inhabitants, the Khmu, still call the remote but beautiful mountains of northern Laos home. Their traditional religions center around phi (spirits), with fascinating differences between each tribal group. We will ensure you understand a little bit about these spiritual customs, as some tribes consider unknown travelers to be powerful and often dangerous spirits! |

| The region's most enthralling cultural draw is Angkor Wat, where stone temples mark the center of the ancient Khmer Empire. Two hours south will take you to remote and pristine, unnamed beaches. Cross from Laos into China and you can choose from beautiful Yunan, spiritual Tibet , or visit the Terracotta Warriors. Nearby Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand, is now the region's foremost backpacker haven. |
